I hate to say it....

BUT... I'm still in a rut. Seriously. I went downtown the other day and decided to take my camera along. I thought maybe I'd get a couple of shots that made me happy, but when I decided to pull it out and see if something would come to me. That's when it hit me, my battery was dead. Tragic, right?

So in the long run, I still haven't taken any new photos, but now my battery is on the charger and I've been prowling the internet for inspiration. And I think I've found it! I only say think, because I'm not sure how successful I'll be, but I'm sure I'll have fun! I'm going to do some light photography (a.k.a. light graffiti, light painting)!

I figure I have an entire art room full of random stuff, I'm sure I can figure out some interesting compositions. Also, I'm hoping that by working with light I'll be able to develop my skills and understanding of shutter speeds. We'll see, as it's after midnight I'll have to work on this tomorrow...

For tonight though, let's look at some interesting examples. To begin with, I found the flickr group light painting- the real deal. Via this group I found some very inspiring images, that I would love to share with you, but there was so many that you should just check them out yourself.

  2. I agree. It's so easy for anyone to do anything. I find it hard to feel that I'm photographing something in a manner that hasn't been done a million and one times. I try to reassure myself that part of being a photographer is photo-documenting the everyday, not necessarily being cutting edge. I figure today's cutting edge, is tomorrow's passe.

  3. True! We just have to remember what is important... what photography means to us individually and how we can manage to produce images that reflect that meaning. (and be willing to filter through all the bullshit to get there, which is what i personally struggle with the most). Hmm... a good conversation to have over a bottle sometime Pegs? i want to pick your brain! hehe... :~)
